From May 5 to June 5, 2026, Galeria HMH will present the works of its 2024 and 2025 artists-in-residence at its third location, the Château de Monboucher in Lamonzie St. Martin, France
The exhibition “Landscape Abstractions” brings together works by former Artist-in-Residence artists at the castle and is dedicated to a multifaceted exploration of the surrounding landscape. The starting point is the immediate natural environment of the site: the castle garden, the expansive forests, the tree structures, the light, the sky, and the region’s specific color moods.
The artistic positions oscillate between observation and transformation. Here, landscape does not appear as a fixed motif, but as a remembered, interpreted, and abstracted experience. Nature is translated into color spaces, forms, and atmospheres—sometimes reduced, sometimes condensed, sometimes emotionally charged. This creates a field of tension between the real place and the inner pictorial space.
The exhibition conceives of landscape as a dynamic structure: as something that is constantly changing—through light, seasons, perception, and memory. The works open up different perspectives on the relationship between nature and abstraction and invite visitors to see and rethink the castle’s surroundings.
