The exhibition was inaugurated as part of a private concert evening with renowned New York Broadway pianist Peter Larsen on September 6.
With “Detonations,” Château de Monboucher presents the second solo exhibition by Andreas Streicher – the result of his second stay as Artist in Residence. Streicher was already a resident at the château in 2024, when he presented his first major solo show. This new body of work reflects a profound continuation and radical refinement of his painterly approach.
The 26 works on view are the outcome of an intense exploration of controlled destruction. Streicher treats paint as detonation – a precisely calculated eruption that oscillates between chance and control. The resulting images are visual eruptions of striking energy, whose centrifugal dynamics seem to exceed the boundaries of the canvas and charge the space as if acoustically.
Presented in one of the salons of the historic Appartement Saussignac, the works establish a resonant dialogue with the château’s classical architecture. The strict geometry of the room contrasts with the explosive gesture of the paintings, opening a discourse on order and chaos, on beginnings and endings.
With “Detonations,” Streicher delivers a cycle of works that radicalizes the notion of painting as an event – a firework that ignites not only visually but also intellectually.
Following the exhibition, another three works will remain permanently in the Château de Monboucher Collection.
