In this dialogue, Thorsten Frank’s gestural, abstract works meet Sebastian Bianco’s biomorphic marble sculptures.
Frank’s painting represents a state of flux. His canvases function as visual force fields, defined by eruptive layers of paint and vertical drippings. The application of paint documents the physical act of creation and intentionally eludes rational control.
Bianco’s works counter this fleeting impulse with a final form. His amorphous forms made of polished marble reflect organic structures and mathematical transformations. The contrast between the flowing silhouette and the rough-hewn base tempers the hardness of the material.
