Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol (1928–1987) was an American artist and one of the most important representatives of Pop Art. He became famous for his iconic works that addressed consumer culture, advertising, and celebrities—such as his Campbell’s Soup cans and portraits of Marilyn Monroe. Warhol experimented with screen printing, photography, film, and music, leaving a lasting impact on the modern art world. Besides his work as an artist, he was also active as a filmmaker and publisher. His studio, “The Factory,” was a meeting place for many artists and celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Mick Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Warhol was particularly known for transforming the image of celebrities and icons, making them a part of pop culture.
