Jana Valentine Conroy , born in the Czech Republic, is an artist whose work is shaped by a profound connection to nature, travel. A trained nurse, she came to painting later in life, yet quickly developed a distinctive abstract visual language. Her early works on jute, created from 2015 onward, are marked by earthy tones, geometric forms, and an emotional urge for balance and self-expression.

A pivotal shift in her artistic journey occurred in 2020, when she relocated to southern Spain. Immersed in Mediterranean light and the rhythms of coastal life, Conroy embraced a more fluid, atmospheric style. Her palette turned to oceanic blues and turquoises, reflecting the serenity of sea and sky. These fluid compositions became more than decorative: they emerged as sensory spaces—quiet meditations on beauty, transience, and atmospheric depth. Conroy’s working process is intuitive and meditative.

Using acrylics on canvas, she allows color to flow freely, creating works of immersive transparency and movement. Glossy surfaces enhance the chromatic richness and invite viewers into layered, abstract landscapes of memory and emotion. Rather than telling stories, her paintings evoke states of being—dreamlike spaces where inner and outer worlds converge. Conroy’s artistic language is rooted in personal experience: in formative travels through the Dolomites with her father, and later, in journeys to Bali, Cuba, Croatia, and the Greek islands. Her father’s enduring influence—his passion for art, culture, music, and nature—continues to resonate in her work.
