LAGUNAS

With the series Lagunas, Judith Sturm presents a limited special edition of 20 small-format framed works, each named after one of Mallorca’s well-known lagoons.

The works – measuring between 33 and 43 centimeters in diameter – are created in oil on wood using Sturm’s characteristic salt technique. For this, she works with salt from the Salinas de Es Trenc, which gives the pieces their distinctive crystalline structure.

Each of the 20 works is a homage to the Mallorcan landscape. In the depth of the blue tones and the organic forms, the vibrant interplay of water, salt, and light is reflected – like an artistic glimpse into the mysterious aquatic worlds of the lagoons.

With Lagunas, Judith Sturm succeeds in capturing the uniqueness of Mallorca in an intimate, exclusive series while at the same time continuing her unmistakable artistic signature.
