The exhibition “Landscape Abstractions” brings together works by former Artist-in-Residence participants of the castle and explores their multifaceted engagement with the surrounding landscape. The starting point is the immediate environment of the site: the castle garden, the surrounding forests, the structures of trees, the shifting sky, and the distinct colour atmospheres of the region.
The artistic positions move between observation and transformation. Here, landscape is not treated as a fixed motif, but as a remembered, interpreted, and abstracted experience. Nature is translated into fields of colour, forms, and atmospheres—sometimes reduced, sometimes condensed, sometimes emotionally charged. In this way, a tension emerges between the real place and an inner visual space.
The exhibition understands landscape as a dynamic system: constantly changing through light, seasons, perception, and memory. The works open up different perspectives on the relationship between nature and abstraction, inviting viewers to see and rethink the surroundings of the castle anew.
