In the works of Judith Sturm and Enrique Fuentes, traces, layers, and gestures become vessels of memory, energy, and perception. While Sturm’s monochromatic picture planes emerge from subtle material transformation processes, Fuentes’ expressive compositions reveal painting as a physical and emotional act. Together, their works explore the poetic possibilities of abstraction, in which surface and depth, stillness and movement exist in a tension-filled relationship with one another.
